The Rolex Submariner ref. 1680 is a stunning classic. First introduced in 1969, the ref. 1680 includes the date, unlike previous Submariners (ie. Ref. 5512 and 5513). The infamous Red Submariner is also a ref. 1680 which has the word "Submariner" in red lettering and was produced by Rolex from 1969-1975. 

This rare execution of the Rolex Ref. 1680 is highly revered by gold vintage watch enthusiasts. With a much lower production number than the stainless steel variation, these gold references have become highly sought after. From the boat to the boardroom, this executive piece was originally for the businessman with a taste for adventure.

CASE & BRACELET

The 18k yellow gold case possesses sharp, thick, and even lugs, showing little wear from light use. The crown guards are thick and full which is seldom seen on 18k Rolex sport model watches which have usually been polished or become worn due to the soft nature of the 18k yellow gold. The bezel remains in excellent condition and remains sharp just like the case and the original black insert retains the original pearl which matches the dial perfectly and is free from any wear or fading. The watch will come supplied on a two-piece leather strap.

DIAL & HANDS 

The stunning matte black nipple dial remains in flawless condition. The lume plots remain fully intact showing no lume degradation under U.V. light inspection and have aged to a charming ivory coloration. The original tritium gold handset remains in excellent condition showing no lume loss when inspected under U.V. light and matches the dial coloration perfectly. The gold date wheel is era correct with open 6's and 9's.
